Welcome to Week 44 of the 52 weeks to a better you journey.
Last week we talked about thinking of what food we put into our mouth. This week we are going to focus on the purchasing of that food.
Shop with a grocery list
I admit it. I am a list person. This baby step is an easier one for me, but even if you hate making lists, let me present the case for doing just that:
- A grocery list saves you money. Why? Because we are less likely to impulse buy when we have a list we are shopping off of.
- A grocery list lowers your stress levels. Whether you are stressing about over spending or forgetting something, a list gives you peace of mind that you are less likely to forget something. Not that I don’t forget things, but that usually occurs in my list making and not at the store.
- A grocery list helps you with meal planning. Remember back on week 25 (see post) when our baby step was meal planning? Now we are focusing on a tool to help us do just that.
- A grocery list allows others to help you. When you have a list you can split it up and give it to someone else to help you shop. My kids always help me with my list. It keeps me from having to put too much thought into telling them what to get. They can just use the list. I could actually send someone to do my shopping for me if I wanted and be more likely to get what I want that way.
A grocer list saves you time, money, and stress.
Baby step for this week: Make a grocery list and shop with it this week. Try to put everything you need on the list. Also try not to buy anything that isn’t on the list. If you are unsure about how to make a shopping list, see this post for how I do mine.
