Say “yes” to something
This week our baby step is to say “yes” to something that you would normally say “no” to. I’m talking about good things here, not bad. Perhaps you are a person that is very busy with work and you say “no” a lot to your family’s requests on your time. This week I want you to say ‘yes’.
I’d like to relay a little story here. I have a college age son who lives at home. He’s an adult with his own life so we are often like two ships passing in the night. But there are times when he just feels like talking. I’m usually busy busy busy and so I’ve said “no” to him more times than I care to count. Not usually in words – mostly by actions, but I made a conscious effort recently to give him my attention and say “yes” by engaging in the conversation. Do I have work to do? Sure. But what will I regret at the end of my life? The work I didn’t get to or the son I didn’t talk to?
Practice saying yes.
Baby step for this week: Say “yes” to something you would normally say “no” to. Anything that helps you build a better you. Yes to the things that help your relationships. Yes to the things that help your mind, your body, your spirit. Yes to the things that help others.
