You are important. Just in case you are feeling like you need to take care of everyone and everything else before yourself, I want to remind you that you are important. Being a better you will benefit those around you as well so be encouraged to take those baby steps.
Eat a healthy breakfast
So you have probably heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But do you believe it? Is it actually true?
It makes sense when you think about it. When you are sleeping, your body slows down. Your metabolism slows down. This is when your body rests and repairs itself.
So when would your body be ready to need refueling?
The first meal of the day.
If you eat more of your daily intake earlier in the day, your body has a longer time frame to use the nutrients or burn off the excess calories before it shuts down for the day. This makes eating later more problematic. And easier to put weight on your body.
Studies have shown that eating a healthy breakfast can give you more energy, help your brain function better, give you better eating habits, and help you lose weight.
Give your body a good start for the day
Baby step for this week: Eat a healthy breakfast. Now that does not mean a BIG breakfast. Many people can’t handle large breakfasts. That’s okay. Just make sure that, 1. you are eating breakfast and 2. it is a healthy one.
Tips for eating a healthy breakfast
- Balance it – lean proteins and fiber
- Put it in your meal plan (see this post)
- Plan and set things out the night before
- Get up a few minutes earlier to make something
- Avoid refined sugars. These things may be fast, easy, and taste good, but your body will come crashing down sooner rather than later.
