Welcome to Week 26 of the 52 weeks to a better you journey.
It’s the half way point! Yay! Although these baby steps are more about the journey than the finish line, it is pretty exciting to see that we have come so far. How are you doing on the journey?
Drink a cup of water before every meal
I’ve talked in previous baby steps about the importance of keeping hydrated. We have used some of those steps to increase our intake of water.
This baby step will do that but we are also going to utilize it to help us with other things – specifically our digestion and weight control.
By drinking a cup of water before every meal, we set our body up to better receive the food we are about to put into it. Think of it as lubricating your digestive tract.
The second thing that this step does is to trick our brains… no, I shouldn’t say trick, let’s say ‘aides’ our brains in being quicker to recognize that we are full. Doing that then makes us more likely to stop eating before we stuff ourselves.
Hydration makes your body more efficient.
Baby step for this week: Drink a cup of water before every meal. Cold – warm – with fruit… It doesn’t matter how you get it in you, but give your brain and body an advantage before you fuel it.
