Welcome to Week 24 of the 52 weeks to a better you journey.
It has been said that a cluttered house, or desk, is a sign of genius.
If that is the case then we are going to dumb down with this week’s baby step.
Clean or organize one thing
How many of us have something that needs to be cleaned or organized? Raise your hand. Unless you happen to be a complete neatnik, which I admit I am not, then you have something that is calling for you to take care of it.
I am not a hoarder and I don’t think that I suffer from ‘flat surface syndrome’ but there are definitely some places that need some attention.
Like, maybe my (cough cough) closet?
Actually, my closet is one of those areas that needs a complete makeover and as such it is something that doesn’t fall within the category of a baby step.
Like making our bed, there is something about having things clean and organized that tends to make us feel good about ourselves. Accomplished.
Certainly less stressed when we know where everything is and do not have to hunt for it. 🙂
Many of us shy away from organizing/cleaning projects because we look at the amount of work involved and get completely overwhelmed.
If you are concerned that it will take you too long, then set a timer for say, an hour, and stop working when that hour is up.
But have no fear, we are going to take this one baby step at a time.
Baby step for this week: Clean or organize one thing. This week, we are going to pick something small that needs to be cleaned or organized. Maybe that is one of your dresser drawers. Or maybe you have a small room that needs some extra cleaning you don’t do regularly.
This is a baby step so do not take on a project that will completely overwhelm you. In fact, if you do have a room like I have my closet and you want to take a baby step toward fixing that room, then take a small section to work on. Do not make any grand plans to take on the entire thing.
What about you?
What cleaning or organizer are you going to take on this week?
Do you have any tips for those who struggle with organizing?
