Welcome to Week 1 of the 52 weeks to a better you journey.

Are you excited?

I know I am. I’m excited that I am going to take a baby step to improving myself and, by extension, my life. I am also excited that I am not alone in this endeavor. You are here. 🙂

Now remember, every week we will be taking one new baby step. Sometimes we will continue with previous baby steps as well. There may be some steps that you already do in your life so those weeks will just be a review for you (or you can make your own baby step).

So without further ado…

Week 1

Drink 1 cup of water every day

Our bodies need to be well hydrated. It helps our bodies run at peak efficiency. Being well hydrated helps with weight loss, getting better rest, and also helps with our general outlook on life.

Who would have thought that something so simple could be so powerful?

Here’s why this is a baby step. Can I confess something here? I don’t like water. Some people have sneered when I’ve said that. “What do you mean you don’t like water. Water has no flavor.”

I beg to differ.

Have you ever tasted well water?

Water certainly does have a flavor. Fresh lake water tastes different from tap water which tastes different from bottled water and so on. Different minerals make their way into water sources and changes the flavor.

Sorry, I’ll get off my soap box.

Anyway, I don’t like the taste of water. Therefore, I don’t drink much of it. If I am thirsty, I am going to pick just about anything else to drink besides water.

In recent years, I have been trying to change that since I know how important it is to my health. But I still don’t drink enough.

This year I am going to remedy that.

Baby step for this week: Drink one cup of water every day. If you already drink plenty of water, give yourself a high five, keep doing it, and come back next week. If you already drink water, but not enough, then you will be adding one cup to your normal drinking.

If you don’t like water, here are a few tips for getting that one cup in:

  • Drink it cold
  • Drink bottled water
  • Drink it in sips over a few minutes
  • Put a piece of citrus fruit in it
  • Use a special glass, bottle, or mug to drink your water from
